There is a project to build a Reprap:Mendel 3D Printer. (see [1])

The original direction of the project as identified by Nicholas and Sean was to build a Mendel RepRap from scratch. After locating all of the hardware required, the discovered that the most important parts (the 3d printed ones) could not be sourced from any location. NCY Resistor had been contacted but nobody stepped forward as being willing to produce the parts for us.

As a result, the decision was made to purchase a RepRap Darwin kit from Makerbot [2]. The expense of this project is high, at $803.25 including shipping; however, a fund has been established and members are pledging toward the purchase. Details below:

Donor Pledge Amount
Cassandra $125.00
Nickolas $100.00
Sean $150.00
Jeremiah $120.00
Tyler $100.00
Amy $75.00
Ben $133.25
Total $803.25
Goal $803.25

We do still have the original goal of building a Mendel. Mendel is superior to Darwin in many way. The kit purchase will enable us to fabricate our own parts for a Mendel and will eliminate the roadblock we have hit.
